Sports massage

Playing sport and doing regular exercise is good for your health, but can sometimes result in injuries. At The Physiotherapy Academy our physiotherapists have years of experience treating athletes from many different sports from grass roots to elite international level.  Two of our clinicians have achieved Masters degrees in Sports and Exercise Medicine.

Most people will only experience minor sport-related injuries. However sports injuries can be acute or chronic with common symptoms of pain, swelling and restricted limb movements, either way these injuries can prevent you from getting back to your sport.

A key component to recovery is understanding the cause of the injury. It may be described as a sudden injury resulting from impact or an awkward movement, or an overuse injury that developed over time as a result of overusing certain parts of the body or poor technique. The PhysiotherapyAcademy believes prevention is better than cure where possible.  After a thorough assessment we will provide expert treatment and active rehabilitation allowing you to return to your sport when you are safe to do so.

Not all sports injuries can be prevented, but you can reduce your risk of re-injury and our team will ensure that you understand how to do this. Often an injury will occur due to a combination of biomechanical problems or poor movement control. These common issues will be identified in your detailed assessment and you will be guided on how to correct these dysfunctions.
