Joint pains
Joint pain in children should not be ignored. It is usually something that will clear up quickly but in all cases an assessment by a qualified physiotherapist should always be undertaken. Any pain that lasts for a prolonged period of time may need further investigation such as blood tests or scans which your physiotherapist in conjunction with a specialist or your GP can arrange.
Joint pain can be caused by inflammatory conditions such as juvenile arthritis, joint capsule inflammation called synovitis which often resolves spontaneously, joint asymmetry and in some cases although very rare serious pathology. Of course children like adults can also sustain injuries whilst playing, participating in sports or undertaking hobbies. If your child has joint pain it should be assessed by a qualified physiotherapist. Please call to book an appointment.
