Severs Disease
Severs disease is a condition which results in pain being reported in the heel in children. It is normally seen in sporty children, with boys being more likely to have this condition than girls. The age at which this condition occurs varies, as it is normally present when there is a rapid growth spurt and a change in the bony structures.
For most, symptoms settle with rest and time. A physiotherapy assessment can help identify the problem with treatment techniques including soft tissue massage to the surrounding soft tissue structures, taping techniques, stretching and strengthening exercises all assisting with management of the condition.
