Football Injuries
Football is the world’s most popular sport with over 240 million registered players worldwide. The majority of football injuries occur as a result of trauma, commonly from contact with another player or from landing awkwardly after jumping. Surprisingly overuse injuries only account for 25-33% of all football injuries. The most frequent site of injury is the lower extremity, classified as the pelvis downwards.
Research tells us that adults are more likely to get injured playing football than children or adolescents; more injuries occur during matches than training and that female players sustain more injuries than there male counterparts.
