Wrist Pain

What is it?

Wrist pain can be caused by number of structures in that area. If you have had a recent fall or accident then your physiotherapist will want to rule out a break in any of your bones. The main bones in the wrist that get injured are the radius, the ulna and the scaphoid bone. It’s not always obvious when a bone is broken in that area but your physiotherapist will know what to look for. If you had not had a fall or major trauma other structures such as the cartilage of the wrist, the tendons of the wrist as well as the ligaments and joints can be a cause of the problem.

What we do?

We will undertake a detailed assessment of your symptoms to ensure we have an accurate diagnosis.  The assessment process will include a range of techniques looking at your range of movement, strength, muscles and ligaments. We may also use special tests to confirm your diagnosis.

What are the benefits?

Your physiotherapist will aim to help reduce the symptoms you are feeling from your problem.
This may be to regain your range of movement and to decrease the pain you are feeling. Treatment will target tight muscles and tendons around the wrist area and improve joint mobility. We may also look at how you work or sit at your computer and attempt to improve these areas for you.
